Move your cursor over the image on your left to see the photo after touchup.

This photo suffers from being too dark or underexposed. The light sensor in the camera used to take this picture misread the available light causing the lens shutter to not stay open long enough. This is an easy to edit problem using most image editors. Pictures with this problem are often a result of the camera being too far from the subject.
If you are using a smartphone, this lighting issue can be avoided. Simply press or tap the area that you want to be properly exposed and the rest of the image will adjust accordingly.
